HOKA Tecton X 4: The new competition weapon arrives on the trails

HOKA Tecton X 4 : la nouvelle arme de compétition débarque sur les sentiers

On August 20, 2026, HOKA officially launches the Tecton X 4, the fourth generation of its carbon-plated trail running shoe. This model is resolutely geared towards competition, designed for trail runners who want to go fast, for a long time, and maintain maximum efficiency when the terrain becomes more technical.

An even more performance-oriented Tecton X

With this fourth version, HOKA retains the DNA that made the Tecton X range successful while re-working several key elements. The Tecton X 4 now combines a PROFLY™ X dual-layer PEBA foam midsole with two parallel carbon fiber plates whose structure has been adjusted to improve propulsion and stride efficiency.

The objective is clear: to offer a shoe capable of maintaining a high pace over long distances, while providing enough protection and stability to tackle technical trails.

The speed-oriented MetaRocker™ geometry completes the package to promote quick transitions and efficient recovery.

A new Matryx® Micro upper

Another significant evolution: the Tecton X 4 adopts a new Matryx® Micro textile upper. HOKA announces better breathability, especially during intense efforts and in wet conditions.

The support has also been improved with a new lacing structure and an extended gaiter-like mesh collar. The latter helps to limit the entry of small stones and other debris into the shoe.

HOKA also adds a marathon lacing option, designed to allow runners to more precisely adapt foot support during long events.

Vibram® Megagrip for tackling technical terrain

Underneath the shoe, you'll find a reliable feature: a Vibram® Megagrip Litebase outsole with Traction Lug and 4 mm lugs.

This configuration should allow the Tecton X 4 to maintain good grip without sacrificing its dynamism. This is a particularly interesting characteristic for a shoe intended for both fast sections and more rugged terrain.

275 grams and 5 mm drop

Despite all the technology embedded, the Tecton X 4 has an announced weight of 275 g for the men's version, with a 5 mm drop and a heel height announced at 40 mm on the French HOKA website.

On paper, we therefore get a shoe that seeks to combine several qualities: cushioning, energy return, grip and propulsion, without losing sight of its main objective: competition performance.

For what type of trail runner?

The HOKA Tecton X 4 is primarily aimed at runners looking for a high-performance shoe for competition. Its combination of PEBA foam + carbon plates makes it a particularly interesting model for fast trails, long distances, and technical courses where regular re-acceleration is needed.

It may also appeal to runners who appreciate generous cushioning but do not want to sacrifice dynamism when the pace increases.

With a public price of 250 €, the Tecton X 4 is clearly positioned among the premium models dedicated to performance.

HOKA Tecton X 4: ready to make a statement

More breathable, with a re-worked carbon plate structure and still equipped with a Vibram® Megagrip outsole, this Tecton X 4 pushes the concept of HOKA's carbon trail shoe even further.

Just days before the big late-summer events, its arrival is bound to attract the attention of trail enthusiasts and time chasers.
