It’s not an exaggeration to say we’ve been working on this short for 15 years. That’s how long it’s been since the original Free Aero Race Bibshort was first introduced as our top-of-the-line race short. Through these years the Free has outfitted all our professional women’s teams, and it has also become the best-selling women's short in Castelli’s history because, quite simply, it’s the short that does everything well.

The concept is quite simple: start with the best chamois we know how to make, surround it with a supportive short with good muscle compression, and then remove everything that isn't absolutely necessary.

You feel Free because of the reduced number of panels and seams. The short portion has only 5 panels compared to 10 in the previous generation.

You feel Free because of the further refinements to the seamless Progetto X2 Air Donna chamois. The two densities of foam plus the gel inserts provide progressive damping, while the separate Skin Care Layer is soft and stretchy to move with your skin.

You feel Free because of the most minimal straps ever seen on a short, with open-weave mesh straps for maximum airflow. We did reinforce the yoke so the straps stay put and reduced the mesh back to a minimal yet sufficient support for the short. The straps elegantly frame a practical pocket at the center back.

You feel Free because this is the first top-end short that doesn’t need any grippers or elastic at the end of the leg to keep the leg in place. Achieving this took 28 prototypes and our most extensive testing program ever, resulting in the most comfortable leg ending we’ve ever Made.

The Forza 2 fabric has 32% high-modulus Lycra® for exceptional muscle support and the just-right amount of compression. Reflective piping is found on the back. All logos are either stitched or embossed for durability.
