- When Castelli invented the short-sleeve Gabba to race in the rain, it also filled a need for a jacket for fast fall/spring riding when your body needs warmth but traditional jackets are just too hot. The Gabba was made for racing in the rain, and the Gabba R now fulfills that need better than ever. But if you’re like most riders who wear the Gabba primarily in dry conditions, the DO.DI.CI. is the jacket for you. Being made for racing in the rain, the Gabba provided excellent water protection at the expense of breathability. If you’re not riding in the rain, we can give you superior breathability and a better jacket for dry conditions. The secret is in Castelli’s Ristretto technology. Using our engineered air permeability solution, we create fabrics that are mostly windproof but allow a small amount of air to pass through the fabric to evaporate your sweat and keep you drier. How much air? We named this jacket DO.DI.CI., which means “twelve” in Italian, because it has 12 times the air permeability of the old Gabba. It’s like the difference between laying your bib shorts to dry in a cold, damp room versus out in a light breeze. The fabric is extremely stretchy and gives you an unmatched fit. What if it rains? The fabric won’t protect you from anything more than road spray, but you can carry an Ultra Rain Cape or Squall Shell Jacket in the center pocket in case of rain. Available in both short and long sleeve versions.
